Max Muenke
PSJS Seminarian, Academic Year 2023-2024

About

Hello, my name is Max Muenke.  I am a first-year seminarian for the Archdiocese of Boston at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston.

Originally from Germany, in the U.S. I have always lived along the East Coast.  I have been blessed by a family with three children and five grandchildren.

I was raised by Catholic parents. My childhood dream was to become a priest.  A serious childhood illness with a year-long hospital stay changed this plan. Instead, I became a physician trained in pediatrics and medical genetics.

For over 40 years I worked in different settings: hospitals, academia, the U.S. Federal Government, and a non-profit organization. The most rewarding part of my professional life has been to accompany families who have a child with a physical and/or intellectual disability.

The vocation to the priesthood came again while on a pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago in Spain, followed by two years of discernment with a local priest.  I am full of gratitude that with God’s grace my childhood dream to serve as a priest may come true and I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know you at the Good Shepherd Parish.
