Music Ministry

We are blessed with a singing Assembly at Good Shepherd Parish. Music changes with the Liturgical Seasons of the year.  We welcome all to particpate through joinging as a choir member, as an accompanist, and as an instrumentalist. For more information click here.

Altar Server

Altar serving provides an important ministry for youth age 10 years and older. Their role is to assist the priest during the liturgy. They have several supporting duties to carry out, such as carrying the processional cross and candles, holding the missal for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, and assisting the priest when he receives the gifts from the people.

Lectors are persons who proclaim the Scripture readings at daily, weekend and Holy Days liturgies and other liturgical celebrations. Both adults and confirmed high school youth are welcome, and training is available periodically. Lectors are scheduled on a rotating basis.

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Good Shepherd Parish provides the opportunity for children ages 4 to 10 to participate in the Liturgy of the Word for Children at the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses during the academic year.  The children are sent by the community to hear the readings proclaimed and explained by a liturgical minister in a way that is designed to be engaging and understandable on their level.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are fully initiated members of the laity who assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion.

Prayer of the Faithful Writers

At liturgy after the homily, we respond to the Word of God by offering prayers for the needs of our church, the world, our community and our neighbors near and far. Parishioners are invited to prepare these prayers for the Sunday and Holy Day liturgies.

Pastoral Visitors

Pastoral Visitors are Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist who bring Holy Communion to parishioners who are confined to their homes or nursing homes due to sickness or infirmity.  We serve Traditions, the Hospice at Traditions, Wayland Nursing & Rehab Center, Sunrise Senior Living, and Whitney Place Assisted Living and also support the Leonard Morse Hospital, as well as making home visits.
